In this Employee Spotlight, we introduce Jenna! Jenna is the Manager of Business Development who started her Dispatch career in 2021 as a sales representative. Find out how Jenna achieved her leadership goals and continues to support the organization through its core values and internal processes.
1. How has your career grown since starting at Dispatch?
My career has grown exponentially since joining the Dispatch team!
After being in the liquor sales industry for around four years, I was new to the tech world when I joined Dispatch in April of 2021. I started as a Business Development Representative, booking meetings and filling the top of funnel for my sales counterparts. In early 2022 I was promoted to a full-cycle sales position as a Territory Sales Manager and continued my growth by then moving into an Enterprise Sales Representative role.
In November of 2023, I applied for and was offered the job of the Manager of Business Development, managing the team I started in! Having the opportunity to start from the ground up and intricately learn our sales cycle, team members, processes, and customer profiles as an individual contributor gives me a unique perspective when making decisions and giving input to our executive team.
My goal has always been to grow into a leadership position, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to start that journey than here at Dispatch; it has been exciting, challenging, fun, and extremely rewarding. By focusing my work and efforts around our Core Values and the EOS process has played a huge part in getting me to where I am. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow with Dispatch and the incredible team here!
2. What does a typical day in your role look like?
Most of my days are spent meeting with my individual team members and my co-managers. Whether it's 1:1s, L10s, brainstorms, interviews, planning sessions...you name it and it's probably somewhere on my calendar!
When I'm not in meetings, I'm focused on the metrics and efforts of my team that will lead to results. Touching base with my team, checking output and return, validating generated sales, spot-checking CRM work, offering feedback and guidance, and trying to find out where I can lend resources to set us up for success.
Truly every day is different from the last, and that's the way I prefer it!
3. What is a project you have been recently involved in?
Building out the contests for the sales department for the remainder of the year! Brainstorming ideas on how we can best incentivize our teams to push themselves and drive results has been super fun. Spoiler alert - one of the prizes is a car!
4. So far, what accomplishments are you most proud of here at Dispatch?
I'd say one of my favorites was the Task Queue Initiative! While I was a BDR, I noticed that although we were using the Task Queue feature within our CRM, we weren't utilizing it to its full capacity. I worked with my manager to come up with a comprehensive way to fully optimize the Task Queue feature and roll it out to the team. This resulted in an uptick in call volume, organizational excellence, and a more fluid flow to the day. In sales, we have a lot on our plate at all times, and being able to roll out an idea and process that helped folks stay on track and complete more tasks throughout the day was very rewarding.
5. Which Dispatch core value(s) resonates with you the most and why?
It's hard to choose only one of them, but if I had to, it would be Care. At Dispatch, Care means that every individual is deserving of the same love, care, and respect. It's something I strive for in my daily personal life, and it's a value I see play out at Dispatch every day. From how our team members treat each other, how our executive team communicates and operates, how everyone is constantly striving to do better and be better...the list goes on and on! It's the core value that keeps me grounded in the mindset of one team with one goal.
6. What is your favorite thing about working at Dispatch?
The people. The team here at Dispatch is supportive, kind, respectful, driven, and always willing to go the extra mile. I've had countless mentors at Dispatch who continue to guide and push me in the right direction, and I'm constantly learning from every person I work with. I'm fortunate to have forged friendships cross-departmentally, and it's awesome to see how every team is eager to jump in and lend a hand wherever it's needed. I feel lucky to be surrounded by such a fantastic and talented group of individuals that keep the laughs coming and don't take ourselves too seriously, but always take the work seriously. I just love our little Dispatch family!
